Before becoming a teacher, I worked several years as a Certified Dental Assistant in Saskatoon. My childhood dream was always to be a teacher, so with much determination I went off to the University of Saskatchewan to make that dream come true! I have been with Medicine Hat School District #76 since 2007 and I love coming to work at Southview Community School each day. In the 17 years that I have been a teacher, I have had the privilege of teaching all grades from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Although I have enjoyed working with all my students over the years, I especially enjoyed teaching the younger grades. I am very pleased to once again be part of the Grade 1 Team at Southview.
I come from a large family and children have always been a very important part of my life. I have six sisters and 16 nieces and nephews! I am fortunate to be married to a teacher. My husband, Kelly, teaches and coaches at the Medicine Hat College. My family includes two pet dogs named Sophie and Dixie. We enjoy going on as many family walks as we can.
I have always been a book worm! I hope my students will experience the same love for literacy that I have. When I am not enjoying a good book, you may also find me gardening and taking in all the beauty of nature.
